The Wix Blog post composer is your workspace for creating, editing, and publishing engaging blog posts. From the composer, you can organize your content, add images and videos, optimize your post for search engines, and choose how it appears on your blog.

The panel on the left helps you manage every detail, from scheduling and visibility to categories, tags, and comments, so you have full control over each post before you share it with your audience.

Creating and editing blog posts

Write your text, insert images, videos, and galleries, and use formatting features to organize your content. You can also add SEO settings, schedule posts, and update published articles to keep your blog up to date and engaging for your readers. Only people with writing permissions can create and edit posts.

1. Go to Blog in your site's dashboard.

2. Choose what you want to do:
   Create a new post:Click + Create New Post.
   Add the title of your post.
   Add the relevant content to the main body of the post.
   
   Edit an existing post:Hover over an existing post and click Edit.
   Edit the post as required.
   

3. Customize your post further by using the tabs in the panel on the left.

Add

Add content to your post, such as, images, galleries, videos, GIFs, or files. Insert elements like dividers, buttons and tables and polls. You can also embed HTML code, AdSense, or SoundCloud content.

AI tools

Use AI to help you create a full blog post, offer title suggestions, post outline and SEO meta tags. You can also use it to review the post for grammar and style. Learn more about using AI to create blog posts.

Settings

Customize the settings in each of the tabs:

• General: Set up your post’s details. Choose a cover image, write an excerpt, select the author, choose the publish date and time, set the post’s visibility (public, private, or password protected), and enable or disable comments.

SEO

How do I access the blog post composer?

You can access the blog post composer directly from your dashboard. Here you have the option to create a new post or edit an existing post. Both options open the post composer where you can create/edit your blog posts.

To access the blog post composer:

1. Go to Blog in your site's dashboard.

2. Click + Create New Post or click an existing post to edit it.

Does it matter how I access the blog post composer?

No. The way you access the post composer does not impact the process of writing a post. Just enter the post title and start writing.

Is there a limit to how long a blog post can be?

Yes. Currently, the maximum size of a blog post is 400KB.

How can I format my blog posts?

The toolbar at the top of the post composer gives you several options to format and style your blog posts. Use the different tools to change text style, add links, highlight important sections, and organize your content for a more engaging blog. These options help make your posts clear, attractive, and easy for readers to enjoy.

Do I need to keep saving my post as I make changes?

No. Once you add a title to your post, the changes are automatically saved as you go.

Can I make money from my blog?

Yes. You can monetize your blog content by setting up blog subscriptions.

Can I translate my blog content to other languages?

Yes. Using both Wix Blog and Wix Multilingual, you can translate your blog content into other languages.

Is there a character limit for post excerpts?

Yes. Blog post excerpts are capped at 500 characters. This limit allows you to provide a concise and informative summary of your post without leaving out key details. If you leave the excerpt field blank, it will automatically populate with the first few lines of your post, offering a quick preview of the topic.
