FAQs
Learn more about your Facebook username by clicking a question below:
How can I find my username?
To find your username, log into Facebook > click Profile > copy the text or ID number in the URL bar after www.facebook.com.
Can I use a business account?
No, the Facebook API only works with personal Facebook account usernames. This is because any features related to your Facebook Page (e.g. sharing your website on Facebook, managing comments, likes), require administrator identification on Facebook. The owner of the page is set as the administrator of all the pages.
Is any information shared with my site visitors?
No, this information is not displayed to users who visit your site, it is only for the purpose of Facebook admin related functions.
Can I hide my Facebook username from the source code?
When you add your Facebook username, it is displayed in your site's source code. It is not possible to hide it in the source code. Facebook requires this information for your site's meta-tags so that it can link comments, likes, etc., to your account.
My site information is out of date when I share on Facebook, what do I do?
When you share a page of your site on Facebook, it takes your page title, description and site thumbnail. If your site information (title, description or thumbnail) is out of date when shared on Facebook, you can update the outdated information and preview it using the debugger tool.
