Claude Default Model and Model Access for Your Organization
⚡ TL;DR Admins set one default model for all members under Organization settings, Models. Enterprise can also disable models or cap effort; Haiku can't be disabled.
Model choice drives cost and quality. Setting a Claude default model and managing access keeps both under control.
Admin guide. 🧠
🧠 Setting a Claude Default Model
Admins can set one default model for every member under Organization settings, Models. Primary Owners, Owners and members with the Identity & Access permission can change it. Users can still switch, and Claude remembers their last choice by default.
🔒 Managing Model Access
Enterprise organizations can control which models members use and cap effort levels. Disabling a model organization-wide removes it for everyone, including Owners and Admins.
🎭 Roles and Limits
Custom roles only affect their members and can't exceed organization-level model or effort limits. Haiku models can't be disabled, so everyone always has a fallback.
💡 Pro tip Default to a balanced model and let roles with heavy reasoning work unlock stronger ones.
🚀 A Sensible Setup
One default for everyone, stronger models for power users, effort caps where costs matter.
The right Claude default model keeps quality high and costs predictable. Want a model policy for your organization? Lord Of The Wix can define it. ✨
