2 min read
⚡ TL;DR Add any remote MCP server as a connector with a name, URL and auth method. Servers must be publicly reachable or allowlist Anthropic's IPs. Free plans get one; only trust servers you know.

Your tool isn't in the directory? Claude custom connectors let you plug in any remote MCP server.

Setup guide. 🔧

🔧 What Claude Custom Connectors Are

Connections to remote MCP servers, on Claude, Cowork and Desktop across all plans. Free users are limited to one.

🌐 Network Requirements

Connections come from Anthropic's cloud, so servers must be reachable publicly, or allowlist Anthropic's IPs for private or VPN-only servers.

🛠️ Setup

Name the connector, enter the server URL, and pick an auth method: sign in now, sign in when needed or no sign in. You can add fixed credentials like API keys in headers. On Team and Enterprise, Owners add connectors and members connect individually.

💡 Pro tip Disable tools you don't need right after connecting.

⚠️ Safety

Anthropic doesn't verify custom connectors. Only connect to servers built and hosted by organizations you trust, and review requested permissions.

Claude custom connectors extend Claude to any system. Need a custom MCP server built? Lord Of The Wix can develop it. ✨
