🌐 What the Claude Cowork Built-In Browser Is

A browser inside the Claude desktop app that opens in a side panel during Cowork tasks. Claude opens pages, reads, clicks and fills forms while you watch. Choose it or Claude in Chrome under Settings, Cowork.

🔑 Sign-Ins

On first use, import saved logins from Chrome, Edge or Firefox, site by site. Banking, email and SSO sites are unchecked by default; Safari isn't supported. Logins persist on that computer.

✅ Approvals and Safety

Claude asks before its first action on any new site, high-risk sites are blocked and each action is checked against your request. Avoid using it for finances, medical information or others' personal data.

💡 Pro tip Import only the logins a task needs; fewer sign-ins means less exposure to prompt injection.

🏢 Admin Settings

Owners manage it under Organization settings, Cowork. Allowlists and blocklists from the Claude in Chrome page apply to both browsers. Both are on by default for Team and Enterprise, but off in HIPAA organizations until enabled.
