Click a question below to learn more about changing your member's login email.
What happens once I change someone's login email?
The email is instantly updated on your member list, as well as the member's contact info. Your member can log in with the new email address.
If the member needs to reset their password as well, they can go to your site's login screen and click the Forgot password? link.
Can I do this for members who signed up through Google, Facebook, etc.?
Yes, you can change the email address of a member who didn't originally sign up with an email and password.
For example, if your member signed up through a social account or SSO, you can still set an email address for them.
However, keep in mind that your member will no longer be able to log in using the previous method. They will have to use the new email address and a password they choose (through the Forgot password? link in your site's login screen).
Are there cases where I can't change someone's email address?
Yes, the option to change a member's login email will be disabled in 2 cases:
Site collaborators: Your collaborators should change the email address on their own, from their Account Settings.
Mandatory SSO login: If you enabled SSO (Single Sign-On) login and set it as required. If SSO is optional but not required, you will still be able to change the login email.
